A trial date has been set for Union County Circuit Clerk, Cherry Govan.
Documents filed in the Union County Circuit Court show a tentative trial has been set for November 11-14, with a conditional agreement set for disposition on November 1
Govan has been charged with one count of tampering with a public record and one count of tampering with physical evidence , according to sources from the Union County Sheriff's Department.
According to an arrest report, Govan was arrested on April 24 and given a $10,000 bond. She had her first appearance in court on April 29 at 1:30 p.m.
Captain Jeff Stinson of UCSO stated, "It's one of those things when you obtain the information, you have to act on it and we'll let the prosecutors do their job and come to the resolution. It's just one of those things, where it's an important enough position that you don't want to have the perception that everything isn't always above the board."
According to a report by KARK in May, Union County Judge Mike Loftin said Govan will remain at her position and has not been convicted.
