Parkers Chapel hoped to qualify its boys team for the 2A State Golf Tournament. After a stellar regular season, a poor round at the district tournament proved fatal for the Trojans.
While the hunt for team glory has ended, Landon Black and John Hall earned the opportunity to compete for individual success when the 2A Boys State Golf Tournament tees off Tuesday at Glenwood Country Club.
Black shot 76 at the conference tournament. The senior has been the Trojans’ most consistent scorer.
“Landon has had a great senior season. We could always count on Landon to be a leader,” said Parkers Chapel coach Hillary Frisby. “He is in it to win it. He has put in a lot of time this week preparing for the tournament.”
Hall, a sophomore, opened the season by shooting 80 at the Simmons Bank Wildcat Invitational at the Lions Club. He qualified for state with a 91 at the district tournament.
“John Hall played really well this season, especially being a new player. He did a great job and stepped up for his team,” said Frisby. “This tournament will be a great learning experience for John and I expect him to do well."
