El Dorado will compete in the 5A South Tennis Championships Monday at Hot Springs Lakeside. Play begins on eight courts at 10 a.m. with boys singles followed by girls singles, boys doubles and girls doubles.
In boys singles, El Dorado’s Andres Marquez will play Lakeside’s Barrett Tipton and Carter Brooks will face Lakeside’s Sanlin Malone.
In girls singles, El Dorado’s Sara Robbins will meet Benton’s Jenna Collins and Sidney Johnson will battle Lake Hamilton’s Ellison Felgate.
In boys doubles, El Dorado’s Jordan Coleman and Johnathan Moree will take on Sheridan’s Holcomb and Loetscher and Henry Huang and Chet Passmore will face Lake Hamilton’s Myers and Williams.
In girls doubles, El Dorado’s Aspen Preston and Zoey Walker will play Benton’s Sisco and Sisco and Sarah Kellet and Aaliyah Morse will take on Texarkana’s Peoples and Johnson.
“We have a good shot at getting some of our players into the quarterfinals,” said El Dorado coach Russ Bechtelheimer. “To get some of them into the semifinals would be outstanding. Once into the semifinals, anything can happen on Day 2.”
