El Dorado volleyball to host Purple-White

El Dorado will unveil its 2024 volleyball team on Tuesday with the Purple-White Games, which start at 5 p.m. at Wildcat Arena. The varsity season opener will be on the road at Little Rock Southwest on Aug. 26.

Coach Amber Cunningham is looking for improvement for the Lady Wildcats, who compete in a tough 5A South league.

“Our goal for this season is to be competitive and hopefully move up the rankings in our conference,” said Cunningham. “This group of ladies make it easy to come to the gym. They have positive attitudes and are ready to learn.”

The coach said chemistry will be a team strength and, “We definitely have improved our blocking. Our serve receive will be a key factor in our game play.

“This year our defense will feature our libero Destinee Smith. Destin Lewis is returning as our senior middle blocker and I am excited to see what the season holds for her. Samantha Huddleston and Ella Streets will debut as our varsity setters this year and I am excited to watch their continued progress and journey.”

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

“We hope the community can come out and support our girls,” urged Cunningham.
