Parkers Chapel’s golf program returns three starters from a boys’ team that finished fifth in Class 2A last season and one girl from the Lady Trojans’ state runner-up squad. Coach Hillary Frisby’s squad is scheduled to open the season Wednesday at the Lions Club.
“We started practice the first of June,” said Frisby. “We had a lot of players come out to play this year, which is a great problem to have. Our players practiced throughout the summer and turned in scorecards. I was really impressed with the growth all of our players showed.”
Senior Landon Black earned All-State honors last year, scoring 81 in the state tournament. Also returning for the Trojans are junior Jaxon Waggoner and sophomore Hunter Cheatham. Rounding out the boys’ roster will be seniors Chandler Boykin and Drew Mason and sophomore John Hall.
Junior Lorali Barnes will be the lone returning starter for the Lady Trojans. Barnes shot 97 at the state tournament, earning All-State honors. She shot 92 on Monday in the Simmons Bank Wildcat Invitational.
Barnes will be joined by senior Delaney Mason, junior Heather Drummond, sophomore Brilee Carelock and freshmen Bentlee Bates, Jade Stewart and Kambrey Stegall.
Parkers Chapel will play Smackover, Junction City and El Dorado's JV today at the Lion's Club, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
