Lady Bucks compete at UALR

Smackover’s senior girls attended a basketball team camp at UALR recently under Coach Allie Banks. The camp was the second of the summer for the Lady Bucks.

“While our performance at the camp highlighted areas where we need to improve, we are encouraged by the effort and determination our team showed throughout the course,” Banks said. “We faced some tough competition but the experience was invaluable for our growth.”

Smackover faced a gauntlet of powerhouse girls’ programs, including Bryant, Pulaski Academy, Rose Bud and Episcopal and also played MASE (Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering).

“They were a very solid group of girls,” Banks said of MASE. “They had a very quick, skilled guard and a few bigs that challenged us on both ends of the floor. It was great competition.”

Overall, the summer camps weren’t about wins or losses for the Lady Bucks, but bonding as a team and learning their own strengths and weaknesses.

“We have clear goals to work towards and we are confident that with continued hard work and dedication, we’ll see progress as we move forward and prepare for the season,” said Banks. “We also want to give thanks to those who made our trip to UALR possible. We appreciate all of the support.”
