DOROTHY B. GRIMES

Dorothy Barnes Grimes, 97, of Magnolia, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at the Wentworth Place in Magnolia.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1918 to the late Willie Hayes and Allie Mae (Dye) Barnes. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ruth Bible Class, Chess class, the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Columbia County Home Extension Club, where she won ribbons for her cooking expertise. She enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, needlework and cooking.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben F. Grimes; sisters, Lillian Trevillion and Willie Mae Delaney.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Lewis of Magnolia, Melba Johnson and her husband, Tommy, of El Dorado and Jan Sims of El Dorado; granddaughters, Ginger Cook and her husband, Terry, of Magnolia, Robin Smith and her husband, Jeff, of Draper, Utah, and Katherine Gavito of El Dorado; grandsons, Bill Lewis and his wife, Tanya, of Little Rock, Alan Johnson and his wife, Shawna, of Monroe, La., Brian Johnson and his wife, Kristin of North Carolina; 11 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Amy Sanders of Sherwood; and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and extended family.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday with funeral at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Kelso will be officiating and the Rev. Raymond Cammack will be assisting. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lewis, Alan Johnson, Terry Cook, Coby Cook, Ethan Gavito, and Reid Johnson.
