Clean Harbors, Inc. receives $338,405 from Entergy Arkansas for saving energy

EL DORADO – Energy efficiency incentives from Entergy Arkansas, Inc. are helping Clean Harbors save money at their incineration facility by reducing the amount of electricity required for operation.

Entergy Arkansas offered Clean Harbors a financial incentive to upgrade their facility. “Clean Harbors is always looking to partner with utility companies or states agencies to help drive sustainability programs through energy savings projects. Working with Entergy on several successful energy saving projects to date has proven to be a valuable partnership for our El Dorado facility. Clean Harbors looks forward to continuing this partnership,” said Scot Shoemaker, Clean Harbors VP of engineering and operations.

Participating in Entergy’s large commercial and industrial program resulted in $338,405 in incentives and saved about 2 million kWh (killowat hour) of energy annually. That is equivalent to avoiding 1427 tons of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere, or removing 300 vehicles from roadways. The projects included installation of LED lighting, lighting controls, motor controls and compressed air improvements.

“When you hear the term “energy efficiency”, saving the planet is on most folk’s mind, however, I think about retaining and creating jobs. When a company like Clean Harbors can reduce its energy cost and improve the

efficiency of their facility then they become more competitive, which sustains or grows business resulting in jobs for southwest Arkansas,” said Bill Luther, Entergy Arkansas’ customer service representative in El Dorado.

Entergy Arkansas has an award-winning portfolio of energy efficiency programs for both residential and business customers. To learn more about these programs, visit http://www.entergyarkansas.com/energyefficiency.
